Cask at Seumas Bar, Skye. It pours hazy dark brown with a medium beige head. The nose is earthy, toasty, coffee, cocoa, dirt and some creaminess. The taste is bitter-sweet, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, dried berry and light bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Smooth, well-rounded and easy going. A nice cask stout by all accounts.

Cask at Seumas Bar, Skye. It pours clear golden with a thick, dense white head. The nose is soft, grainy, doughy, cereal and bread. The taste is smooth, lemony, toast, light bitterness, grain and dough with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Smooth, clean and easy-going. I have a had this a few times in the past and this is by far the best it has tasted.

Cask at the brewpub. It pours clear golden with a small white head. The nose is toasty, grainy, slight sweetness and a touch of lemon. The taste is smooth, easy-going, lemony, toast and cereal with a dry finish. Light body and fine carbonation. Pretty light and inoffensive stuff, but a bit watery. Nothing wrong with it, just not a whole lot going on.

Bottle from Tomlinsons. It pours dark amber with minimal head. The nose is toasty, earth, leather, dried fruits and caramel. The taste is caramel, dried fruits, toast, mild tang and dull cocoa with a dryish. Light+ body and low/no carbonation. A bit flat and dull. So-so.

Amber-tan. Sweet, slick and oily, pears in syrup character. A quick-drinking beer that has almost no bitterness but also not much complexity.

Dark brown. Nutty, caramelly aroma with a touch of molasses. Taste is lighter, towards nut and caramel, and the body is light and velvety.

Golden brown. Smells rotten and a bit sour. Body at least has a cleaner tartness. Sweet malts have a touch of brown sugar character.

Hazy light tan, aroma is light and mostly earthy. Tart character, a little smoky and off. Maybe some caramel. Disappointing for a brewpub.

Bottled. Clear amberish brown, brief head. Grassy nose with some ripe fruit. Light bodied with crisp mouthfeel. Slenderish and drinkable with low-medium bitterness.

Bottle shared on the train from Wick to Thurso, from Tomlinsons, 20/10/13. Clear copper with a decent off white head. Nose is bready malts, cereal, apple skin, earthy, biscuit, toffee. Taste comprises light vegetal notes, faint toffee, grain, bready malts, cardboard, brown bread. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dry finish. The twigometer was rising into amber on this one - not one to head back for !
