Cask at GBBF 2010. An amber beer with no head. The aroma has notes of caramel and malt. The flavor is sweet malty with light notes of hops. The body is light and the beer is boring.

JDW Fest. Clear amber beer, residual white head. Light crispish palate, semi dry. Nice sweet plums with a little minerals and drying pale malt. Dry finish with a mildly bitter aftertaste. Nice flavour but could do with more body and less dryness.

[Cask at Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading] Amber-red with a small white head. Yep, there’s plum in it, and a lot of blackcurrant too. Maybe a hint of woodiness behind. The plum’s not overdone on this one though - it’s sweet, but not too sweet, and it doesn’t feel too sticky either. The main issue is that the underlying beer is rather thin and weedy, so there’s not much to take away the impression that you’re drinking watered-down plum and ribena squash.

Cask at the Claude du Vall (JDW), Camberley. Copper with a thin cream head; fruity plum aroma; thin body with some biscuity malts and weak plum fruit flavour; and a dry finish. Disappointing, needs more plums.
