Cask at the Thirsty Scholar, Manchester. Medium golden color, with a citrus aroma. Sour, citrus flavor with spices and pepper. Not a lot of hops. Slight maltiness at the back of the mouth, lots of lemon. Nice enough, but too sour, so it lacks balance.

4th November 2008. Clear dark brown beer. Bitter malt that imparts dryness. Some nice dark fruit tones but these are overwhelmed by an astringent bitterness - very grapefruit in character. Full of flavour but way too harsh.

Cask handpull at The Bell, Lower Heyford, Oxon. Very dark brown colour with thin tan head. More biscuit than roasted malt. Some juiciness, some dryness on finish. Decent biscutiy darkish mild, rather than a bitter/stout.

Cask-conditioned at the Cross Hands, Winterbourne Down, S Gloucestershire 27/10/09. Medium brown with a decent, off-white head. Malty, red fruit and brown sugar aroma. Flavour started sweet, before plenty of earthiness and a bitter finish. Didn’t do much for me.
