Friday 16th February 2024, Prince of Wales, Shrewsbury; Cask Beer Festival. Hand-pulled half-pint. Cloudy golden look, white crust. Grapefruit bitter taste initially, other citrus like fruits arrive and give off esters and flavours before the semi-bitter finish.

Friday 16th February 2024, Prince of Wales, Shrewsbury; Cask Beer Festival. Hand-pulled half-pint. Second beer of the session, it was a clean golden colour with a snow white crown on top. Various citrus fruits came to mind as I sipped this one, some malt action in there too.

Cask at the Coracle, Ironbridge. Poured a murky light brown colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is grainy malt, tropical citrus. The flavour is moderate sweet and bitter, with a smooth, somewhat rich, juicy citrus, mango passionfruit, light floral, light woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask at Ebenezers, Crewe. Pours a hazy straw with a small off-white head and good lacing. Not much of an aroma – just traces of floral hops and citrus. In the mouth it starts off sweet with flavour of apples and tropical fruits. In then progressively becomes more bitter with first citrus and line followed by floral hops and oranges. Finish is decidedly bitter and slightly sticky. Not my kind of beer – though the lime did ameliorate the yuckiness !

Cask @ Kobenhavn, Halifax. Golden with a thick frothy head. Fairly neutral hopped brew, with hints of tropical fruit in taste, but not much going on in aroma.

Keg pint @ the brewery after cycling there with Al. Pours a murky dull gold-ish colour, no head. Sharp grapefruit and pineapple nose. Lovely fresh sharp fruitiness to taste, low carb for keg, which suits me fine, gentle bitterness, settles to a smooth mouthfeel, with delectable fruity nuances. Great stuff.

June 18. Cask @ Salopian, the pub. Pours clear gold, thin white topping. Aroma has bright grapefruit and pine. Taste is similarly bright and hoppy with crisp clear grapefruit, lime, lemon & pine. Solid cask APA.

Cask pint @ the brewery. Pours clear gold with a pure white head. Gentle fruity aroma, perhaps a hint of mango and grapefruit. Super fluffy texture greeting the lips, with a lovely soft mouthfeel. Nice fruity shades, medium to light bodied, moderate sweetness. Great balanced cask.
