Keg @ Blackjack Brewery, Manchester. Golden with a small head. It has a low to mid sourness which is subdued by understated rhubarb, however its sum of its parts make it a decent sipper.

Blackjack New World Summer Bitter Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 30th August 2021. Clear coppery amber with shallow off-white foam and full lacing. Earthy, slightly spicy aroma. Richly malty in-mouth with mild spices, and a bitter finish that builds between sips. Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel.

Dark reddish brown with lasting head. It's packed with roasted bitter malts. Really burnt. The hop gives a rounded fruitiness too. Hopped Porter or Black IPA? It's good stuff.

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 18th August 2021. Clear amber with shallow, yellowy white foam and almost no lacing . Clean fruitiness and citrus in aroma with a touch of soapiness. Zesty citrus peel, sweet spiciness and just the slightest hint of smoke in-mouth. A lasting, solid, bitter peel finish. Light to medium bodied with a zingy mouthfeel.

Keg at Jack in the Box at Mackie Mayor, Manchester. Lightly hazed amber-gold with a white head. Citrus and tropical fruit. Sweetish. Flavours are milder than many of its kindred. Indistinguishable from the thousands of similar beers on the market; easy to swill but also easy to forget.

Keg at Jack in the Box at Mackie Mayor, Manchester. Murky dark brown colour with no head. Frankly looks like a muddy puddle with added sewage. Flat as roadkill. Feels like there's something wrong with this? Flatness aside, it's got a creamy mouthfeel, and tastes of cola mixed with vanilla custard (given the appearance, maybe they have actually just blended custard with flat cola?). Frankly it's really, really odd and slightly unsettling. Couldn't decide if I liked it or not. But I didn't dislike it either. Just plain weird.

Keg at Jack in the Box at Mackie Mayor, Manchester. Clear gold with a white head and a light fizz. A little butter, plenty of grassy hop and some caramel. It's ok, but I'd have liked it to be a little crisper on the finish.
