500ml bottle. Pours a clear golden amber colour, bubbly white head, with caramel and very faint hop aroma. Flowery, hoppy taste with light malt, and lingering dry metallic bitterness.

On gravity at the Volunteer, Bristol. Dark brown with a touch of red and tight, off-white head. Sweet, caramel aroma with a touch of fruit. Flavour was very sweet, with a syrupy edge and gently bitter finish. Aside from the caramel, there wasn’t much to this beer. Disappointing.

Pours deep amber into an English pint. Pancake head with good retention recedes leaving scant trailing sheets. Sweet caramel and dough aromas. Soft with toasted nuts and caramel upfront turning to a dry, earthy, bitter finish.

Cask at the Harvester, Solihull. Clear golden brown pour, thin frothy head and broken lacing. A classic English bitter that isn’t quite so bitter! Big malty flavour with a smooth bitter taste which only just reaches the palate. It has an almost creamy feel to it, which probably explains it’s popularity. It’s been the king of English bitters for a while now and shows no sign of losing it’s crown.

Half liter bottle from Nikki’s Liquors, Providence. New county! Pours a medium amber color with a very slight haze. Large fizzy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of caramel and toasted malts with mild floral hops and a bit of butter. The taste is sweet caramel malts, butter, marzipan, floral hops. Medium bodied, very faint lingering bitterness. Solid.

Pours a dark amber with frothy white grassy hop aroma small amount of malt coming through. Small amount of hops in flavour with a bitter edge. Solid English bitter.

Bottle @ De Vlaamsche Reus, Wageningen. Clear dark orange color, small off-white to beige head. Smell malts and a bit buttery. Taste malts, lightly butter, bitter. Low to medium body, low to medium carbo. Easy to drink.
