Bottle from local offy. Golden, with a thick, white, lasting head. Biscuit, light caramel, citric fruit zest. Some pine wood. Taste is light sweet, with a light, burnt bitterness. Nice, easy drinker.

Amber colour, white head that does not last long. Aroma is not very intensive, of malt and fruit. Medium bitterness. Light body, lively carbonation (too high for me). Average.

Dark-gold beer with a thick, frothy head. Light aroma of caramel and toasty malt. Flavour is an initial tangy-sweet hit. Quite dry and bitter in the finish, with a real nuttiness to it. Nutty beers are not generally my cup of tea but with this being quite crisp and fresh initially but leaving a nuttiness on the tongue it works well.

Cask at The New Bridge, Newcastle. Hadn’t realised this was a pseudonym for the Best. Clear amber pour decent white head and lacing. Malty aromas, toffee malty taste. Sweet finish, thin. Not very interesting bitter.

On cask at Stalybridge Buffet Bar October 20, 2013 - Not the most inspiring pint, looked good with its perfectly clear amber body, and pillowy white top, but underneath it was just bland. The nose had a soft malty character to it, a bit of sweet caramel, but the taste was watery with not much interest in it.

Cask @ Cross Keys, Harpenden. Dark gold, almost copper. Very faint aroma. Working hard you can get toast, golden syrup, yeast. Bittersweet taste; syrup comes into play in a big way. Not as balanced as I remember. Well-crafted enough but not the most exciting of best bitters.

500ml Bottle: BBD end of Jun 14, poured into a UK pint sleeve at home on 20 Oct 13. Prefer a well kept cask Landlord to the bottle, but this was OK. Light brown to light amber in colour, clean and clear: on top a decent white head than stayed. The smell was a mix of light malts and fruity hop notes, as was the taste. Semi-dry feel to the whole pint although the malts do try and add some sweetness. Honest and fine, a good bottle of Pale Ale.

Cask at the Golden Lion, Osmotherley, 04/10/13. Clear copper golden with a good sized off white head. Nose is light caramel, bready malt, light fruit, a little thin in aroma but what there is carries pleasant notes. Taste carries a touch more depth, caramel, fruit notes, bread dough. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, smooth on the palate, light bitter notes in the finale. Ok bitter.
