[50cl bottle from Sainsbury’s, Bracknell.] A peaty brown coloured pour with a tight beige head; rich aroma of roasted chocolate malts and orange; sharply bitter in the mouth from both the roast and some resinous hops, nicely balanced by some velvety chocolate and some pithy orange. Very good.

Hazy golden beer, white head. Smells fruity and a but peppery. Flavour has citrus, pepper, coriander, sweet malt. A bit saison-y, and surpasses my expectations for a supermarket beer. Very decent!

[50cl bottle from Sainsbury’s, Bracknell.] A glossy cola brown pour with a thick beige head; aroma of winter spices, Muscavado sugar and malt; cinnamon and ginger in the mouth with a sweet sugary malt body and some English hops adding bitterness; then more cinnamon and ginger to finish. Not too sure about this at first, but it grows on you.

750ml bottle bought in Sainsbury’s, Beaconsfield, Bucks. A dark golden coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Yeasty, orange, citrus, spice, caramel aroma. Tastes similar, quite sweet and Belgian in character despite being produced in France. A festive bargain for £3.

500ml bottle. Very dark brown in colour, with reddish undertones and a slight, off-white, head. Aroma of cloves and cinnamon, with a touch of roastiness and some berry sweetness. Fairly smooth in flavour with more spice and berries, and some gentle toastiness in the finish. An impressive winter beer.

500ml bottle. Very dark brown in colour, with reddish undertones and a slight, off-white, head. Aroma of chocolate fondant and orange with a trace of toastiness. Slightly oily mouthfeel, with deep chocolate and orange flavours coating the mouth before a drying finish. This did taste like a better quality version of Terry's chocolate orange and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

750ml bottle. Deep gold in colour, with a slight, white, head. Aroma of marmalade, tangerines, spice and yeasty grains. Flavour started sweet, with more citrus character, candy sugar and spices, with a slightly herbal edge and warming, boozy, finish. Very good.

Bottle from Eltham Sainsburys. Gold pour with a white head. Tangerine, ginger, tropical fruit aromas. Taste is orange toffee, apricot jam, more ginger. Spicy sweet warming feel.

Thin beige head left a spotty cover on a reddish brown coloured body. Chocolate, malt & orange aroma. Medium bodied, well carbonated & clean. Dark chocolate, orange & extremely bitter tastes. Standard.
