Bottled@chriso (bought from vintage stall at GBBF). Goldeny amber colour, small bubbly head. Aroma is sweet malts, some mild old bitterness as well as some wooden notes. Flavour is sweet malts, mild old bitterness as well as some mash. Quite much kotikalja taste over this. BBE scale ended at 1989 on the bottle, so quite vintage by now. No infections, just aged.

GBBF. Cask. Clear dark brown beer, light malt. Trace of dry bubblegum. Finishes dry with a small amount of hop. Okay but pretty dull.

GBBF. Cask. Hazy gold beer with a decent frothy head. Light dry palate. Light malt and a little subtle hop. which has an unfortunate sulphur streak. Dry finish. Coulda been good sans the sulphur.

GBBF. Cask. Clear dark brown ale. Smooth softish palate. Light creamy malt with a pleasant touch of light fruits. Finishes creamy and mild. A pleasant little Christmas Beer.

On tap @ the Haymarket Bar. Pours golden with a nice sized head. There is a grapefruit note which is expected but also a bit of green apple which has be worried it is just on the edge of oxidation. The taste has more of the same. I mentioned this to the bar people who can’t agree re the green apple, so if it is the way it’s meant to be it’s worrying. For some unknown reason, I am back in the Haymarket two nights later and I try the beer again (my friend has it this time) and it’s much better. So, it was slightly sour the first time and this cask was fresh.

Cask at The Clachlan, London. Pours a clear, dark gold with a tight, creamy white head. Clean and fresh hops on the nose, subtle grapefruit. Flavor doesn’t quite match up to the aroma but it’s still good. Pretty sweet, some creamy caramel, ripe citrus, faint grass. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, decent balance, some caramel, toast, easy earth and herbal hops. An alright beer on the whole.

Cask at GBBF 2010. An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has light notes of citrus fruits and malt. The flavor is sweet malty. Boring.

Cask at GBBF 2010. A red-brown beer with a lazing off-white head. The aroma has notes of caramel and malt as well as light notes of berries. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and citrusy hops, leading to a dry bitter finish.
