On gravity at St Albans beer festival 2006. I had forgotten about trying this, but came across my notes of the festival. According to them, this was a standard session bitter, amber coloured with a slight, off-white head. Easy drinking with some caramel sweetness, grassy hops and a decent bitter finish. Ok.

[on draught at The Retreat, Reading] Slight head quickly dissipates; ruby black colour body. Slight smoke on foretaste, aftertaste too dry and bittter for a mild. Disappointing (like many West Berkshire ales).

Cask (gravity dispense) at Reading BF, shared with Finn. Layered with a thin head leaving some nice laceworks on the glass. Plain malt-fruity aroma that continues to the taste. Flavour is supported a clean touch of citric fruits. Moderate bitterness. Rather well bodied for the ABV (02.05.2008).

Lacing-head over a bit clouded, golden body. Malt-fruity aroma. Rather tangy hops up front with hints of grapefruits and peaches. Soft bitter ending (gravicask sampled with Finn at Reading Beer Festival, 02.05.2008).

[on draught at the 3B’s, Reading] Slightly cloudy, a hint of malt but mainly overwhelmingly hoppy and bitter, with an unpleasant lingering bitterness. Yet another unmemorable and uninspiring English "Best" Bitter.
