50cl bottle from Bellingers Garage, Grove, Oxfordshire. Bright pale straw in colour, no head, but some light carbonation. Aroma of hops and honey; soft hop flavours, and a sweet and lightly bitter finish. Very drinkable.

Cask at the Dragon, Worcester, 27-06-09 Poured amber with a thin white bubbly head. There was a tangle of fruit, malt and bitterness that shone through straight away. The elderflower was there but it was delicate and not overdone in any way. Another typically decent beer from West Berks, fruity and sweet but plenty of chracter. In many pubs anything from West Berks would be up there with the best on show, but despite the quality of this beer, there was no denying that this really was really put to the sword by the Little Ale Cart and Mighty Oak beers that I had in this pub, which incidentally is one of my old haunts from yesteryear. Cask at the Nags Head, Reading. Amber with a thin cream head; malty aroma; chewy sweet malt and digestive biscuit flavours; soft bitter finish. Very moreish, but not particularly exciting. Another workmanlike beer of the month from West Berks.

Cask at the Jack O’ Newbury, Binfield, Berkshire. Depp amber with a ring of off-white head and good lacing; sour malt aroma; simple caramel malt flavour; and a deeply bitter English hop finish. A straightforward bitter, more satisfying than the standard version.

Cask at the Hobgoblin, Reading. Gold with a thin off-white head, leaving lots of lacing; aroma of malt and leafy hops; flavour is full of sweet earthy hops, with some fruity caramel sweetness; and a rounded bitter finish. Pleasant enough, but not the best monthly beer from West Berks.

[Cask at Hobgoblin, Reading] Deep red-brown, small lasting white head, no carbonation. Sweet at first with treacle, straw and a lttle chocolate. Dusky bitter roasted malts come through in the aftertaste. First good beer I’ve had from West Berkshire - has restored my faith in the brewery a little. c8

Gravity dispense at Pig’s Ear Festival 2008, London
Dark amber color. Nice aroma of caramel, fudge and hops, elegant and interesting. The flavor is in line, but less interesting (more caramel and less hop cones and fudge); at least the final has more chocolate.
