I had the Whiskey Barrel Aged version but I guess this is where people are rating that one... bottle shared by Ian at Lingua Cafe in Osaka. Schooner Exact Imperial Porter 8% This black beer with a tan head has a nice aroma of maple, coffee and whiskey barrel. The taste is oak, maple, dark coffee, cooking chocolate. Really smooth with the roastiness in the finish.

Tap at Marciero. Almost black, dark brown, hazy, lace. Caramel nose, bourbon, vanilla. Big bourbon falvor, lots of vanilla, too much maybe, chocolate, treacle, tasty, mostly bourbon.

This is the 2014 version drank in the 2015 season (so, a year of age). Deep reddish-brown with minimal tan head. Chocolate, dark fruits, caramel, bourbon, vanilla, plum, and brown sugar. Full bodied. Plenty of booze in the finish along with sweet malts, and brown sugar. Very well done.

Draft - Bourbon boozy, coconut notes and sweet dark malts. Deep brown with a light brown head. Lots of bourbon and dark sweet roasty notes. Big bourbon bomb.

Draft - Tart woody notes. Cloudy gold with a decent white head. Sweet, tart buttery notes and a long finish. No sign of cherries at all.

I guess when the name starts with "Hoppy" i expect a hoppy beer- this was not that. Caramel in color, the aroma and flavor is mostly sweeter malts, chocolate, and sweet bread, with little hop presence at all. Smooth body and a sweet, clean finish. This is not a bad beer at all. It’s just completely nondeScript, doesn’t live up to the Hoppy moniker, and easily forgettable. Basically, a well-brewed snoozer.

On tap at WA Winter Beer Festival 2015, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out notes of bourbon notes upfront, with vanilla and cocoa. Flavour is intense, with loads of bourbon and vanilla - not much else. The bourbon dominates but without being too boozy or harsh. Excellent stuff.

On tap at WA Winter Beer Festival 2015, pours a cloudy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of lacto and pith - but not getting any cherry. Flavour brings out the cherries more in terms of tartness, with pith and lacto. It's quite thin and ascorbic. Not a very good Berliner Weisse. Meh.

22 oz. bottle, pours a cloudy golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out play dough, chemical cleaner and perfume. Flavour brings out pithy blackberries and playdough - very floral and lavender-y. Not at all a fan of this. Inoffensive but not good.

22 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of bourbon barrels upfront, with some caramel and dark fruits providing a big body. Flavour matches accordingly, with loads of bourbon upfront, followed by caramel malts and dark fruits. Big body with nothing abrasive about it. Excellent.
