Description
Birra Amarcord was born in 1997 in Rimini to a number of friends who, like the famous song, wanted to change the world (of Italian beer). Birra Amarcord was born to and in a region, Romagna. It is the upshot of a dream that began 20 years ago and which today has come true. It is also the upshot of a constant and relentless passion. Later on, Birra Amarcord also became "a family history," inasmuch as two generations of the Bagli family carry on this dream with dedication, thanks to top-quality raw materials but above all thanks to the people who, together with them, every day work to create one-of-a-kind products. Making good beer is not at all simple.

Although the registered office still is in Rimini, their brewery is since 2015 located in Apecchio.

(bottle, 75cl) Hazy, deep amber colour with a short off-white frothy layer. Deep, fruity nose with notes of cherries, redcurrant, backed by nutty and slightly toasted malt and a whiff of caramel. Moderately sweet and mildly bitter flavour, full bodied with a creamy carbonation. Nutty malty base with vinous fruity notes of cherries, redcurrant and raspberries, getting slightly boozey towards the finish. Okay. 04.VI.18

Bottle. Hazy amber color with white head. Aroma is cherries, honey, dough, rather fresh. Taste is honey, fresh yeast, well-balanced tartness from the fruits with the sweetness from the honey, a touch. Silky mouthfeel with fizzy carbonation. Works!

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/31/2017. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy medium golden yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big lemon, orange, peach, pear, red apple, melon, peppercorn, clove, light banana, honey, white bread dough, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, honey, bready malt, light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, orange, peach, pear, red apple, melon, peppercorn, clove, light banana, honey, white bread dough, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/grassy bitterness and peppery yeast spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, orange, peach, pear, red apple, melon, peppercorn, clove, light banana, honey, white bread dough, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, honey, bready malt, light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with an awesome malt/bitter/spiciness balance; and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Moderate increasing dryness from bitter/spiciness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol for 6%. Overall this is an excellent Belgian pale ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, honey, bready malt, light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink; with the modestly bitter/spicy/drying finish. Perfectly balanced yeast, malts, and honey flavors; with solid earthy hop presence. The yeast character reminds me a lot of Brooklyn Sorachi Ace, so I am not surprised; seeing as Garret helped them make this beer. Might be the same strain. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Bottled 330ml. -Courtesy of Marko, thanks. Unclear golden coloured, small white head, dusty grainy nose. Light bready, grainy, some herbal hops and rather dry finish. Not bad for what it is.
