Description
Coalition Brewing was born out of a serendipitous chance encounter between owners Kiley Hoyt and Elan Walsky. Both began as home brewers and received formal brewing education through the Siebel Institute in Chicago.

Their love of beer and the brewing process is the impetus for the Coalator Program, which encourages local home brewers to brew their recipes in the brewery and serve them at the pub.

Coalition Brewing prides itself on highly balanced, drinkable beers.

Admin Note: Coalition closed in 2019 after being purchased by Gorges Beer Co.

On tap at Beermongers. Pours a clear yellow color with a small white head. A big funky salty nose. The dill comes through, sourness, salty, big cucumber fleshy vegetable. Quite nice for the oddity it is.

On tap at Saraveza's 6th IIPA Fest, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of candied sugar, caramel and resinous hops. Flavour is cloyingly sweet, with candied sugar, cloying sweetness and resinous hops. Way too sweet. Nasty.

Draft - Dill and herbs. Clear gold with a decent white head. A little briny, light sourness and lots of dill. Much more subdued than I expected with a really clean finish.

650 ml bottle from Mitsuya’s. Poured into a Duvel snifter. Pours a hazy golden egg yolk color with a huge soapy head that disappears completely after some time. Nose is lacto funkiness with lemon and orange juice. Taste is more of the same with a lemony tartness on the palate coupled with an orange juice sweetness. There’s a creamy milky quality going on that isn’t bad, it’s just present. Not intensely sour by any means, but refreshing sour. The texture is somewhat like tart orange juice. Lightly sweet/sour finish that lingers. The bottle says ’tart saison’, however there is nothing really that seems to be like a saison in here to me. --- Beer merged from original tick of Cyntemps on 29 May 2015 at 23:35 - Score: 7

Tap at Keyaki Spring 2015. Bready nose, stale wheat, citrus. Cloudy golden-orange. Creamy flavor is not very impressive.

On tap at CBM Koenji. Gold color with a minimal white head. Aromas of biscuit, bready malts, honey and wheat. Taste is more of the same with some lemon coming through as it warms up. Lively carbonation with a medium body and soda-like texture. Nice dry and crisp finish, but not much else happening.

On tap at Watering Hole. Served in a snifter. Deep dark mahogany color with a nice big tan head that hangs around. Cacao nib, weathered wood and roasted malt on the nose. Dry and slightly sour on the palate. Tastes of tart cherry, oak, and dark cacao. Long dry finish that lingers.
