Draft at Coalition Brewing in Portland, OR on 4 June 2013. Slightly hazy light amber pour. Hop aroma was more floral, but the flavour was more of a bitter, citrus hop punch (it’s a good thing). Balanced palate with some juicy malt sweetness, but overall a nice lingering bitterness.

Draft at Coalition Brewing in Portland, OR on 4 June 2013. Poured a slightly hazy amber. Grainy malt and some grassy hop on the nose. Hop resin flavours offset by some nice roasty malt notes on the palate. Very balanced and drinkable for a red.

Draft at Coalition Brewing in Portland, OR on 4 June 2013. Poured an almost pitch black with dark brown head. Rich burnt, roast malt aroma which was evident in the flavour, with some addition resiny hop flavours. Lingering burntness turned just a little sweet on the palate.

Draft at Coalition Brewing in Portland, OR on 4 June 2013. Poured a very appealing dark brown with a light brown persistent head. Surprisingly light, quite sweet aroma. Maple is quite forward on the flavour and the sweetness is totally balanced. The mouth feel is also a little watery, but the flavours are still good. Ok beer, but the Bourbon aged version far surpassed it.

Draft at Coalition Brewing in Portland, OR on 4 June 2013. Spicy rye notes on the aroma mix the sweet toffee and chocolate. Rye flavours at the forefront mixed with a little hop bitterness. Palate fades out a little, but this is very drinkable.

Draft at Coalition Brewery in Portland, OR on 4 June 2013. Their Loving Cup maple porter aged in Bourbon barrels. Completely changed the aroma of the beer, it picked up all the bourbon notes, whilst maintaining the slight sweet malty notes of the beer. The bourbon is light in flavour, but the beer has picked up a rich caramel and toffee flavour with no unpleasant Bourbon astringency. I thought this version was far superior to the regular.

Bottle - Funky grains, chlorine and light lemon. Pale clear yellow with no head. Mild lemon sourness and salty. Not a fan, but interesting.

Good to be rater #10. Bomber from Made in Oregon. Pours translucent dark amber - maybe a touch of ruddiness. Slight creamy beige/tan head. Aroma is mixed fruit over smooth slightly roasted malt. Med body. Lots of flavor - no one flavor is too intense - but there’s quite a mix. Fruit/toffee/chocolate I’d say among others. It’s bitter enough to say it’s towards dry. Finish is sort of a chocolate tinged earthiness. It’s a good beer, and much nicer to quaff than most ambers.

Bomber from Made in Oregon. Pours darkly ruddy with a slight beige head. Aroma of roasted grains - what does roasted rye smell like? This? Hint of chocolate. Med body. Flavor is like dark malt, rye spice and chocolate. It’s spicy bitter. Really different sort of flavor combos. Quite nice.

Bomber from Made in Oregon. Pours orange tinged gold with a 4 finger frothy off-white head. Aroma is earth/floral with a light cooked malt underlier. Med body or better. Flavor comes quite floral with a little earth and definite malt. It’s not coming over sweet - I call dry. It’s hot. This is good.
