Realised I'd never rated this, so let's do it. Looks good in the glass. This is a proper, old school bitter - hops and malt with a bit of caramel. Very drinkable, but will never set the world on fire.

Bottle. Clear dark orange/brown with a small white head. Aroma of malts, nuts and raisins. Taste of caramel, nuts, chocolate, toffee, a hint of oranges, raisins and herbs. Distinctive herbal bitterness. Low to medium carbonation. Almost creamy mouthfeel. Well I certainly enjoyed this one.

Cask at Black Prince, New Haw. Aroma is malty butterscotch... vague. Clear gold. Thick foamy white head. Medium bitter. Citrus and herbs. Underlying damp cardboard and boiled veg. Light-medium bodied. Watery..Average carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Bland Golden Ale - twiggy with some underutilised hops.

Cask at Justice Mill, Aberdeen. Asked for something else but I was poured this.... New tick at least. It pours a fairly deep amber - copper with a sturdy off - white head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, caramel, toffee, dried fruits, toasted fruit cake and some damp earth. The taste is of a similar ilk... bitter - sweet, dry, earthy, woody, nutty, toffee, caramel, dried fruits / berries and some kind of fairly acrid, ashy bitterness which leaves a funny taste in the mouth through the finish. Average body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. A bit of a mixed bag. Some decent elements to it, but also a weird burnt vibe.

Keg at the Crown, Hazlemere, 01/06/24. Clesr golden blonde with a white head, carbonation evident. Nose is sweet edged citric zest, pale malts, bread dough, almost a buttery edge. Taste comprises orange zest, grass, slightly artificial, airy malts, melon. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close splashed with a modicum of hop bitterness. Faux craft ... overly sweet and flabby .. one was enough.

Can, gift from Mum. Hazy golden body with a thin white head. Fine carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of Lilt, candied orange and white grape. Flavour of white candy sticks and orange jelly. Thin to medium body with a slick texture. Light fizz. It’s a touch sweet but it’s much better than I thought it would be.
