Description
The Eagle Brewery was previously a Charles Wells brewery site and became part of Marston's (Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company) wider business in May 2017. The Eagle Brewery continued to brew many of the former Charles Wells brewery brands sold to Marston's including brands such as Bombardier, Courage, and McEwan's.
The Eagle Brewery was later sold by the Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company (CMBC) to S.A. Damm (Grupo Damm) in November 2022, though Eagle brands remain with Marstons.

Bottle, ~12C. Umber with a good cm of dense pale beige head that lasts well. Aroma of strong bread and dark fruit. Sweet with red berries, prunes, cooked apple, some singed notes, bread. A bit of alcohol and rather deft creeping bitterness at the end. A bit of a throwback to the days when a beer of this strength was half inclined to hide its ABV and half inclined to emphasise it.

Cask at The Crown Tavern, Lee. Clear honey coloured pour with a white head. Not had this for many moons. Orange marmalade & apricot aromas. Same in the taste. Quite bitter. Quaffable stuff but has lost the nutty backnote it once had.

[275ml bottle from Home Bargains.] Not seen this for a while! But it seems to taste of Young’s of old. A golden amber pour with a thin cream head; aroma of barley; classic English hop bitterness with a sweet malty body ; and some caramel and honey to finish. Nostalgic.
