Happy Fathers Day! Sankt Gallen Father’s Day Brut IPA 7% Clear copper gold with a thick head of foam and fruity butterscotch berry sponge cake aroma. Medium bodied but bone dry. The taste matches the aroma and overall it’s an ok beer but I think it may have hints of diacetyl. This is the only Father’s Day beer I spotted this year so beggars can’t be choosers I guess. Alright.

Bottle from KBL. Thanks! Big tropical fruit nose, over-ripe like mango, durian, plus orange, grapefruit. Doesn't necessarily smell like durian was added, but more like good tropical hops. Slightly hazy, deep orange amber with a tall, fine head. Sweet and funky, resiny, ripe tropical fruits, malty, biscuits. Quite piny, more than expected. Rather high carbonation and a pretty full body. Funky tropical fruits with a bit of stinky durian but it isn't huge. Fun stuff.

Amabie is apparently the Japanese monster (yokai) associated with pandemics... Sankt Gallen made a covid beer! Sankt Gallen Amabie IPA Brut IPA 7% Clear bright gold with a soapy white head of foam and a rich stone fruit aroma. Full bodied but very dry with a semi scratchy finish. The taste is alright rich stone fruit but with a somewhat strange herbal spicy edge to it. Ok.

Sankt Gallen Durian IPA 7% 2020 April Fool’s release made with oats, durian, vanilla, lactose, malt and hops. The aroma is rich and juicy. The color is nowhere near as hazy as their online photos being w fairly clear brassy gold with a soapy white head of foam. The taste is fairly bitter after the initial fruity hit. I’m getting a rank overripe character I associate with durian but to be honest this is a pretty straightforward IPA leaning towards the juicy side. Good.

Happy Valentine’s Day! Sankt Gallen Double Mint Chocolate Stout 7% This year’s variant has a HUGE mint syrup aroma on a pitch black body with a decent tan head of foam. Under that initial punch of mint is a pretty good whiff of chocolate as well. The taste is sweet chocolate then sharp mint. Paired with the chocolate mint Kit Kat the taste of the chocolate shone more. Nice but you better like mint!

Bottle from Isetan. big minty nose, with chocolate malt, like a peppermint patty. Pretty nice, actually. Lightly roasty. Shiny black with a lovely, bubbly, tan head. Minty, herbal, chocolate, medium sweet, dry minty coffee finish. Roasty. The mint is just a bit of-putting in the flavor, unlike inthe nice nose. Also, the finish is quite burnt and bitter, which doesn't really go well with the vegetal mint. Still, nice enough.
