The nose is somewhat chalky. Chalky mouth with some apples. Slightly sour, chalky finish. Needs work.

Dark brown with a medium, dark brown head. Roasted coffee, molasses in the aroma. Similar flavor with plenty of roasted malts, and some chocolate in addition to the coffee. Medium, smooth body. Very enjoyable.

On tap at the 2007 Yokohama Oktoberfest. Golden hazy with a fluffy white head. Fruit, slight spice, citrus, and yeast in the weak aroma. Medium, lightly carbonated body. Boring, watery flavor that is similar to the aroma. A let down.

Pours deep golden with a rocky, off white head. Light on the citrus, mainly grapefruit, with grass and floral being the stronger player. Caramel malts form a solid backbone. Pleasent. Body is thick for a APA. Hefty bitterness on the tongue, even though the hops don’t seem to add much to the flavor. Has more malt flavor than hops. Some real light grass and citrus. Finish is pretty bitter and dry. I’m a litle dissapointed with the flavor. Flavor and aroma don’t match. Loses points for lack of flavor and rther intense bittering. Probably won’t have again, even though it’s not all that bad. (Rated simultaneously with Lowe1983 in different continents)

CANDY! Aroma of caramel, pineapple, honey, fruits, and sugar sweetness. Flavor was an inprovement. Pineapple, caramel malts, sugar, some more candied fruits. Finished with a suprisingly hoppy bitterness compared to the rest of the beer. If the rest of the beer had been like the finish this would be a lot better. Syrupy body. I didn’t think it was as bad as TimE did, but it still needs a bunch of work. Interesting.

Deep golden color. Pineapple and caramel candy in the nose. Caramel and pineapple mouth, which as you might guess doesn’t really work. A little sweet and syrupy, but overall flavors just don’t mesh.

@ GJBF 2007. Sweet aroma, brown sugar, cookie dough, malts, and molasses. Similar flavor, brown sugar is big, roasted malts, caramel, some cocoa, and vanilla. Finish is sugary molasses. A good/interesting stout.

Note: Kokuto mean Brown Sugar in English. Pitch black color. Dark brown head. Brown sugar nose that is kind of one - demensional and misleading. Its misleading because the mouth sings of dark chocolate, vanilla, brownies, cooking chocolate and molassess. Molassess and dark chocolate persist in the finish. A bit thin, but that didn’t destract too much.

very dark, nearly black in color with a wispy tan head. Excellent aroma of roasted malts, vanilla, coffee, and milk chocolate. Creamy, medium body. Awesome flavor!! Coffee beans, vanilla, chocolate, dark malts, all blended together very well. Finishes with bittersweet malts, and vanilla. Not your run of the mill stout, something new and fun...I’m a big fan.

Pours copper with light orange hues in the highlights. Has a thin off-white head. Aroma is citrus hops, malts, a little molasses, and some floral. Has a solid, medium body. Flavor is malty, some hops and a bit of brown sugar. Finishes fairly bitter. Struck me more as a pale ale than amber, but a good brew no matter the style.
