Established in 2010
Almanac was founded in 2010 by Damian Fagan and Jesse Friedman, two avid home-brewers who bonded over their mutual appreciation for California farmers markets. They set out to brew beers inspired by California’s rich agricultural bounty. After nearly seven years of partner brewing, we moved into our very own 30,000 square-foot production & aging facility located on a historic naval airbase on Alameda Island in San Francisco Bay.

1 pint can. Pours a dark brown with light fizzy head that settles quickly. Aromas of cola, roasted malts, and weak black coffee. Flavors of dark chocolate, black coffee and roasted malts. Possibly some sweetness from the vanilla beans, but otherwise a dry finish.

On tap at Portland Craft, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out oak, moderate apricot, and gentle acidity. Flavour is surprisingly integrated, with oak, tart apricot, gentle acidity, and a tiny hint of vanilla. Nice layers and integration. Good stuff.

Can. Gold with a near inch of white head that fades fast. Aroma of sweet pear, sour peach, twigs and oak. Lightish bodied with moderate carbonation. Dryish in a way that accentuates the fruit before oak and a little bitterness. Old - canned in either Feb or Oct 20 - but lovely balance with much mellower sourness than previous Almanac beers I've tried. Elegant stuff.

Can. Pours clear yellow medium Whitehead to dissipate slowly good lacing. Aroma is very oak forward, tons of oak tannin. A bit of grain and Cracker malt underneath. Flavor is light sweet like cuss bitter again dominated by the time in oak. Light body, crushable for an under 5% beer this is really really nice. 5,8,7,5,15
