Can from Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa, CA. Pours light copper with a creamy near-white head. Med body. Flavor is a little peachy/citrus. Mildly fruity, mildly bitter. Pleasant. Not so malty as might be expected. Good thing, that.

Can. Poured a light, slightly hazy orange color with a white head. Aroma was light citrus hops, touch of caramel malts. Flavor was sweet, light malts, a bit of an herbal hop body. Alcohol well masked. More malt than hop here.

Can from Yamaoka. Medium brown with orange. Low, fine head. Fruity, caramel malt aroma, with some chocolate, just a bit spicy. Sweet, spicy flavor, some fruit,, caramel, chocolate. Orange. Seems like they were aiming at Leffe Bruin. Maybe better than that, but not much. Ok, but bland and way too sweet and simple. A belgian dark for peoople who don’t know anything but the name.

Pours coffee black, maybe a shade lighter. Head is soapy, beige and pretty big but fades quickly. The aroma is mostly cocoa with touches of mocha, roast and a mild twang of acidity. Taste is sweet with more simple chocolate flavor and finishes with a fairly assertive coffee/roast bitterness. The coffee flavor is a bit stale. The acidity comes through a bit in the taste, as well. Mouthfeel is somewhat creamy, but it could use more body. It’s a decent porter but nothing special and certainly not worth the price, at least here in the US.
