Bottle courtesy of Cletus: Poured a cloudy amber color ale with a small foamy head with good retention but minimal lacing. Aroma of sweet malt with some nice notes of dry figs and plums. Taste is also dominated by some sweet malt that are well balanced and avoid any overly sweet notes with some complex notes of toffee and dry fruits. Light dry hoppy finish with no apparent alcohol. Body is quiet full with limited filtration and some low carbonation. Very well done but could be more complex in terms of palate.

Canned at Shinshu Osake Mura (Nagano Sake Village), Tokyo. Clear golden, creamy head. Fruity and grainy, slim and dry. Light grassy hops leads it the strightest way to a salty bitterish finish.

Can. Clear, golden, pils or Koelsch- color. Light, slightly hoppy and fruity aroma, with some sense of cereals. Rather fruity flavor, lightly sweet, light hops, muscat evident. Ok, slightly bitter finish. Drinkable and refreshing but uninteresting. Very koelsch-like IMO.

Draught at Popeye, Tokyo Clear viscous amber. Massive lychee hops up front. Sweet with clean, solid body. Massively hoppy and aromatic. The alcohol is fairly well hidden. Quite reminiscent of Old Foghorn, which is a good thing!

Bottled at RBJG park session. Clear pale amber, mid sized head. Pleasant citric US style hops meets the nose with cherry blossom and lychee following up. The caramelly malt is barely perceptable under the malt, the bitterness sets in early and lingers on. Lopsided perhaps, but also enjoyble.

Canned at RBJG park session. Clear deep golden. Rich grapefruity aroma. fairly dry wih clean, solid body. Caramel hides under thisck layers of grapefruity hops. Massive piney bitterness.

Handpump at Ushi-tora. Black with a large tan head. Strong malt aroma, but with decent hops as well. A touch of fruit, quite well roasted, medium sweetness, with chocolate, coffee, a bit of caramel, and a touch of citrus. Strong malt flavor, with moderate hops and moderate sweetness. Smooth and creamy, well roasted, with some fruit a bit of dark fruits, some coffee chocolate and caramel. Very complex. Very roasted finish, slightly hoppy, quite long lasting. Fuller than moderate body, very low carbonation. Smoother and creamier than from the can, with very low carbonation. The hops are less noticeable, but definitely better this way. Great head retention.

Pale colored. Fruity, malty flavor. Slightly grassy and decently balanced. I find this can be quite variable. At its best, it is a light, fruity, citrusy, flavorful pils, almost ale-like. It seems to go off rather easily, though, and then it gets rather insipid (see some ratings below). This rating is for a can in top condition.
