Bottle. "The Lager of the Lake" version. Golden in color with a medium sized head. Aroma is straw, some grains. Taste is straw, grains with a weird bitter finish.

Can. Actually, a really nice can. I think I prefer IPLs to IPAs. They just taste better to me.

Bottle. Medium to deep brown with a smal head. Aroma has hints of roasted grains and caramel. Taste was also roasted grains and caramel but not overpoweringly sweet. Nice.

Can at the Airbnb, first beer of the trip. Why is it this hard to find anything in stores that’s not sold in at least six packs ot not a double IPA in tallboys? Anyway, it pours cooper with an off-white head. Nose and taste are resin, biscuits, citruses and grass with a hint of orange peel. Moderately bitter, somewhat sweet and sticky. Pleasant old school AIPA.

2016 vintage bottle at home. Pours jet black with a two-finger beige head. Nose is roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate and licorice. Taste is surprisingly fruity licorice upfront, then the coffeeish, chocolatey, roasted earthy malts take over. Light to medium bitterness and somewhat bitter with a savory touch from the licorice. Closes with that fruity licorice character and dark chocolate, has a light to medium yet pretty rich (especially for the ABV) and soft carbo.

Sample during Blarney Wine Festival 2025 on 03/15/2025. The beer pours a dark mahogany-brown color with a thin off-white head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Sparse spotty lacing on the glass. Roast malt, caramel and dark fruit aroma. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, black cherry and mild earthy hops. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Definitely faded a bit in 11 years but still a solid Barley Wine.

Sample during Blarney Wine Festival 2025 on 03/15/2025. Dark brownish-amber color with a thin light beige head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Sparse spots of lacing. Roast malt, caramel and hops in the nose. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, black cherry, and earthy hops. The finish is fruity hops up front with a malty aftertaste. Good beer all around.
