Nice surprise for an Amber Ale. I was expecting something along the Killian's line but this produced a hint of hops flavor I was not expecting, which made it taste like a hybrid of some kind. Very interesting. Rich color and good aroma. I am anxious to try Bell's other offerings. The only downside was a faint metallic taste toward the end. Not sure what that was about.

Black, definitely black. Chocolate aroma. Full bodie, soft, very creamy maltiness, slightly roasty. rather sweet with balanced bitter finish. Loaded with flavours. Thanks PsychProf!

Opaque black with beige head. Roasty, creamy but somewhat dry. Full bodied and well balanced. Like strong coffee with cream and sugar. Thanks PsychProf!

Golden coloured. Hazy. Big apricot aroma. Rather sweet, surprisingly light bodied. Unusual, well balanced and one of the most dangerously drinkable beers there is at 10%. Feels rather Belgian.

The big problem with cardamom isn't its flavour - I like the flavour. It's the application. Maybe I just don't cook the right foods, but it takes me forever to use even the tiniest amount. Larry Bell, evidently, has the same problem and decided to get rid of his entire stock in this beer. Extremely dark brown; aroma of allspice and cardamom, coffee; similar flavours, with perhaps a citric element; fruitcakey finish.

Crackerlike, brown bread aroma. Well, when I get to the taste itself it's like brown bread crust. Not from your 7-Eleven loaf, I mean from the good stuff down at the expensive bakery that you only buy when you have guests over. Lightish body, pretty typical stout flavours, no shortage of hops. I have to be honest, I was more concerned with how well this was working with the Pink Floyd than I was with the beer itself.

Extremely dark brown, but yeah I'm still getting a tiny bit of light through there. Hints of oats right away in the aroma, then lots of roast; slightly metallic palate, some roastiness, lacking the smoothness I was hoping for.

Very dark brown; nutty, coffeeish aroma; similar palate, fatty mouthfeel. Nice, the rye adds a little bit of difference which is kind of hard to put into words, but I like it.

Black; aroma of Vietnamese coffee; sweet, sugary, milky, smooth - nicely done and right on for the style.

My first rate of this was overly harsh - I thought the beer was, too. Very dark brown. Very coffeeish aroma with light nuts. Big beany taste with lots of chocolate syrup character. Quite sweet, despite the heavy coffee. I’m still not crazy about it, because I don’t usually like coffee stouts anyway, but it’s a decently made beer and gets a substantial upgrade.
