Hand pulled half pint in the Punchbowl (a Spoon's in York) on 20th May 2026. Guess the colour! White roof and an easy going beer, cheapest half I'd had all day (day two of our three day York Pub Crawl).

Can looks very simple. Beer in the glass deep golden, small head. Malty-moldy aroma. Starts mild, malty, spicy. Modest dry. More and more moldy-wheaty notes, grasy. Finish again moldy. Sweetish background. Shy bitter hints. Okay.

Christmas present from my stepson, drank at home. Normally I would avoid beers from t'other side o' t'Pennines but this was as described on the bottle "Session Blonde" and I could imagine quaffing a few quite easily.

Ben Rhydding is the east village of the town of Ilkley where the brewery hails from. The beer is a hazy golden colour with a dry texture and taste, the latter holding some tropical fruitiness that does linger. Only fair because of the aforementioned, but worthy.

Cask at Picture House, Stafford. Pours golden brown with a medium sized scummy off-white head and good lacing. The aroma is mainly floral hops with hints of citrus and mango. In the mouth it has no great flavour at first with a little sweetness giving way to slight bitterness after a time. More flavour comes through later, starting with malts, floral hops and autumn fruits. Later still come traces of spice, alcohol and citrus. Finish is sweet and slightly dry. This is somewhat on the bland side.

Huge thanks to Erzengel for that one! Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass with a nice head. Starts mild, malty, spicy. More and more fresh hoppy notes, some lemon. Mild bitter background. Shy metallical touch. Finish well balanced, again with nice fresh hoppy notes. Not bad!
