Dark brown with a frothy / creamy tan head and soft roasted malt and a touch of fruit and nut chocolate on the nose. Smooth and creamy but on the thin side somehow, chocolate malt and hints of dark fruit predominate, some roasted character and a dry finish.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading.] An opaque peaty brown pour with a thin beige head that completely coats the inside of the glass; roasted malt aroma; smooth in the mouth with a sweet malty taste; and a rich malty finish offset by a charred bitterness.

Cask at Bull & Stirrup, Chester. Pours a (very) dark reddish-brown with a small foamy cream head and excellent lacing. There’s roasted malts and balsam in the aroma plus hints of coffee. In the mouth it is sweet with just a touch of sharpness. Flavours of roasted malts, cola and traces of chocolate. Later on it becomes quite bitter with hints of hops and dark fruit leading to a slightly fruity finish. This is quite nice.
