Bottle. Pour is nice enough. A cloudy orangeish gold with a little bit of head and aromas of pineapple, citrus and tropical fruit. I’m enticed to take a first sip and my head nearly explodes! This is pretty awful on the palate. Malt is butterscotch nasty and hops turns into medicinal herbal awfulness. Man... this hits the drain!

Very hazy golden coloured body with a rich honey glow, a thin one cenitmetre-tall off-white head and a thousand (literally) bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass - very nice. Aroma of malt, honey, curacao, light sugar and a bit of yeast in the mix too. Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy hop note at first which is surprising and welcomed, a bit of a grassy herbal flavour next then all finished by a bit of malt, some light sugars and a touch of spice. Aftertaste is fairly mild by comparison with only a little bit of sugar and grassy note left. Overall, a very nice blonde, although this really isn’t a blonde ale. Closer to a wit minus the coriander seed, but a very respectable beer. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 28-April-2011 for US$1.79 sampled at home in Washington on 26-May-2011.

On tap at the brewery, Frankenmuth. Clear straw body, thin off-white ring of carbonation. Nose of sharp, bitter citrus rind. Bready body, rather dry, with prominent pine needles and bitter citrus rind. The bready malts provide significant balance. OK.

12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy copper color with a small off-white head. Toasty and toffee aroma with some spice, with a strong mineral aroma coming on as well. Flavor is quite earthy, with iron, spiciness, toastiness, and toffee. Fairly nice.

Sample at the brewpub: Amber/gold color with a medium thin off-white head that dissipates rapidly, and thin patchy lacing. Citrusy hops aroma. Medium-bodied with a brewpub-generic hops flavor and a touch of malt here and there. The finish is moderately bitter but again the hops don’t really set themselves apart in any way. Drinkable, yet lacking overall.

Sample at the brewpub: Hazy yellow color with a compact bone-white head and spotty lacing. Floral aroma of hops and malt. Light and creamy body with a mild but flavorful hops character, along with a touch of malt. The finish is sweet and lingering. This style is not normally my cup of tea but I found this beer to be simple yet refreshing and tasty.
