(bottle, 33cl, courtesy of Quack-Duck) Cloudy, pale golden colour with a tall foamy white head. Yeasty, doughy pale malty aroma with shy grainy spots, accompanied by citric and herbal spicy hops in the background. Slightly bitter and mildly sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Pale malt character with notes of sour dough, white bread, backed by subtle fruity and delicately spicy hops; sweet-bitter and delicately fruity hoppy finish. Drinkable. 22.VII.16

Heller, herb hefiger Beginn. Milde und konstant bleibende Malzigkeit, geringe Süße. Spritzig, weich, langer herber Nachhall, die Hefigkeit bleibt bis zum Ende erkennbar. 9/9/9/9/8/9

0.33 l bottle at ’Café Brecht’, best before November 2016. Clear, pale golden yellow with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, white head. Sweetish, slightly grassy and a little fruity aroma of sweet malts, straw and hints of citrus. Sweetish, slightly grassy and a little fruity taste of sweet malts, straw and faint hints of citrus, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly grassy finish. Thin to medium body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Okay, seems more like a Helles, don’t understand why this has some kind of iconic status.

Bottle. Pale yellow color with white head. Aroma is yeasty, citrusy, sweet grains, but not too sweet. Taste is citrusy yeasts and grains, quite nicely balanced. Low to medium carbonation, not bad
