Description
The Rothaus Brewery was founded 1791 through the Benedictine monastery St. Blasien in the “Zum Rothen Haus” inn (“To the Red House” in English). Following the secularizations of 1806, the Rothaus Brewery fell out of the hands of the monks and became property of the Grand Duchy of Baden and was renamed the “Großherzogliche Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus” (Grand Ducal State Brewery Rothaus of Baden). The November Revolution of 1918, which led to the abolition of the monarchy in Baden, caused the company to shorten their name to Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus (State-owned brewery of Baden), as from then on the brewery was owned by the federal state of Baden.
Since 1922, the company has had the legal form of a stock corporation, the shares of which are currently held entirely by the associated company of the state of Baden-Württemberg. The continuously large demand for Rothaus beer has in the past made large investments necessary. This allowed the Rothaus Brewery to grow into one of the most modern facilities in Germany.

Bottle at a tasting. Thanks Dagan. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma of herbal and somewhat grassy hops and some grainy malt. Flavor starts sweetish with light bready hints and continues to a nice bitter noble hops finish. Medium-bodied. Easy-drinking.

50cl bottle. Pours a cloudy golden-orange. There is a huge head and there are steady bubbles. The nose has vanilla custard over ripe bananas. The taste has a big creamy banana note which just about gets into toffee by the end. The palate has medium body, a medium but persistent texture and a fresh finish. Overall a great hefe, well executed.

Cloudy blond color; fake egg-white creamy head. Light fruity aroma, very light spices, not bad. Soft mouthfeel, too simple flavor, light wheat, the spice and fruits are kinda lost; the absence of bitterness doesn’t help. Not interesting.

Süß-würziger Antrunk mit leicht hopfigen Beinoten. Diese werden im Mittelteil stärker, gleichzeitig malziger, vollmundig. Harmonisch, Herbe und Süße passen gut zueinander. Trocken herbes Finish. 10/11/12/11/8/11

Big white head. Hazy opaque deep yellow body with strong carbonation. Chalky yoghurty banana aroma with floral spicy notes. Dry-sweet, and faintly acidic, yoghurty banana and oranges taste with chalky notes. Mid-to-full body. Mild, soft mouthfeel with some fizz. Dry oranges and herbs aftertaste. Nice. Unusual, and highly drinkable. (0.5l bottle, beermerchants.com)

50cl bottle. Pours a lemon coluor some bubbles, not much head. The nose has pale malt, slightly muesli-ish. The taste has more pale malt and a herby lemon finish and still a bit malty. The palate has medium body, nice consistent texture and clean finish. Overall, I could drink it all afternoon!
