Description
The Rothaus Brewery was founded 1791 through the Benedictine monastery St. Blasien in the “Zum Rothen Haus” inn (“To the Red House” in English). Following the secularizations of 1806, the Rothaus Brewery fell out of the hands of the monks and became property of the Grand Duchy of Baden and was renamed the “Großherzogliche Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus” (Grand Ducal State Brewery Rothaus of Baden). The November Revolution of 1918, which led to the abolition of the monarchy in Baden, caused the company to shorten their name to Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus (State-owned brewery of Baden), as from then on the brewery was owned by the federal state of Baden.
Since 1922, the company has had the legal form of a stock corporation, the shares of which are currently held entirely by the associated company of the state of Baden-Württemberg. The continuously large demand for Rothaus beer has in the past made large investments necessary. This allowed the Rothaus Brewery to grow into one of the most modern facilities in Germany.

Bottle shared by Shane, thanks! Poured a clear gold with bubbles visible on the bottom of the glass and a white head that dissipated to the edges and laced slightly. Aroma was full of crisp grain with slight grass and floral hops. Flavor was similar with really nice crisp grain and lager yeast and a bit of grass and floral coming through. A great German Pilsener IMO.

Bottle at Utopias, Ashford, thanks to Phil. Hazy pale gold, hint of green. Thick lasting off white head. Decent aroma. Good esters. Banana. Some cereal banana and more cereal in mouth it’s a little light on character and may be some sweetness and maybe too banana. Finish again is fairly light. Bit more lager than wheat beer. Drinkable enough but fairly simple. Maybe the rather over carbonation put me off. Bit I do like a hefe. Simple and nothing wrong with it.

Bottled@Brew Wharf, London. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is lemon and some mild pale lagery notes. Flavour is lemon and mild lager and that’s about it. A quite tasty radler with no cardboard etc, and actually letting the lagery notes come through quite well.

Standard pilsener one with the light bitterness of hops. It is perceptible that it is made from really pure water. A bit dry nevertheless refreshing aftertaste.

Bottle. Sweet lemon-lime soda aroma. Pale yellow color with minimal head. Sweet, flat lemon-lime soda flavor - just the slightest hint that there is beer in this.
