Description
BridgePort produces a variety of international style ales, including IPA. BridgePort’s ales are naturally conditioned in the bottle, keg, or cask from which they are served - they’re never force carbonated. The natural conditioning creates ale that is smooth, naturally carbonated, and full of flavor.

As BridgePort Brewing grew in popularity, it also grew in its brewing capacity from its 600-barrel beginnings to over 100,000 barrels per year. Opaque black beer. Soft and semi dry palate. Mildly toasted malt. Mild tangyness and a distinct banana sweetness. A little aniseed as well. Very dry finish which is also somewhat sacharrin. Alright but not really joined up.

Cloudy brown beer. Softish palate leading to a dry finish. Inbetween is chocolatey malt with a woddy edge. Sour bourbon underpins. Not bad but some of that barrel vanilla sweetness would not have gone amiss.

Bomber from Bottleworks. Pours dark amber with a creamy/foamy light beige head. Aroma is sort of cooked fruit/veg. Sweet. Attractive. Med - body. Flavor is unusual. Very fruity/veg with some vanilla and bitter. Made be think of bourbon and orange. It’s not really bitter, but it’s not excessively sweet either. Quite tasty.

Etwas trockener Antrunk, der aber deutlich vom Hopfen angeführt. Im Verlauf wird der Hopfen schnell geringer, dann adstringend, etwas holzig. 7/8/9/9/7/9

22oz bottle that’s at least two years. Pours a hazy, translucent copper amber with just a little white head. Nose is lots of raisin, caramel sweetness, a little leather, a little oxidation, orange, a little booze, a little bourbon. Flavor is orange, tons of sweetness, woody, leather, booze, vanilla, caramel, not a whole ton of bourbon. Full bodied, still a little hot finish. Bourbon has started to fade but the sweetness hasn’t.

Location: Draft at Jacks Bar in the Cannery, 5/11/11
Aroma: Decent nose of citrus/pine hops, some earthy/floral notes, and caramel
Appearance: Pours a mostly clear orange color with a white head and good lacing
Flavor: Not particularly sweet, but has some sweetness, mostly bitter and hoppy
Palate: The body is medium, with a smoothish feel, kind of creamy, dry finish
Overall Impression: My first beer of my SF trip, it may be 1:00 here, but I've been up for 12 hours so I needed a beer! Overall, this beer is fairly one dimensional, but it does that one dimension fairly well. A solid IIPA, that is lacking a bit in balance.
