On keg at The Local Taphouse, Sydney. Pours hazy yellow gold with a fluffy white head. Great aromas of barnyard & saison yeast funk, some citrus also. Taste is moderate to heavy funky, grainy, saison yeast, zesty citrus & wood. Medium bodied, soft carb, with a dry, funky, almost bretty finish. A super saison

Bottle. Slightly cloudy gold with a white head. Bright citrus and stone fruit aroma with slightly funky wheat. Light bodied, high carbonation. Less fruity than suggested by the aroma, cracker dough malt, slight earth, pleasantly punchy spices. Quite dry and moderately bitter at the end. Rustic and swiggable. 736+3+ 14

Bottle (Cool Wine). Black with a tan head that’s soon at the rim and then gone. Interesting aroma of spiced coffee beans and hairy raspberries, somewhat acrid roasted malt. Doesn’t really signal the breadth of what’s to come. Only just medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Taste has just a little sweetness, with as much chocolate and vanilla initially as coffee, although a little astringency kicks in a bit later. The raspberries are there and sit just underneath the stouty flavours. Couldn’t pick the whey, oats or leatherwood honey really, but there’s a broadness and softness across the palate that I suppose I associate with all of them. It’s surprising the distinctive leatherwood doesn’t stick out. Somehow remains a proper stout with berry porridge and coffee features that fit. At the end there’s a little tightly spicy bitterness. Quite something.

Schooner on tap at Tom McHugo’s, Hobart. Cloudy amber beer with thin white head. Nose is funky, yeasty, tangy. Light body, fresh clean taste. Finish is light fruit, a little malt and late bitterness. Really interesting. Well made and hard to categorise.

Schooner on tap at Preachers, Hobart. Nose of subtle smoke.Mahogany red beer with thin film on top. Very light body with slight chocolate and fruit. Some bitterness. Like a lager/porter hybrid. Easy drinking with a dry cocoa finish.

From a 500ml bottle on 11/6/2017.Pours a cloudy golden with a small head. The nose is dominated by wheat, with just a touch of fruit in the background. Flavour wise, it’s quite citrussy - orange, mandarin, lemon and grapefruit all present. There’s a bit more wheat as well, though it’s less prominent than in the aroma. The hops are reasonably firm and linger in the mouth. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Comes together reasonably well.
