About
Brewery De Graal (the name is Dutch for 'the grail') is a young Belgian artisanal, yet automated, brewery located in Brakel, in the heart of the beautiful region that is commonly called 'the Flemish Ardennes'. The brewery of graduate brewer Wim Saeyens started in early 2002, and has known a consistent growth ever since. In the summer of 2016 the brewery moved to a new building.
Continuous investments in the latest brewing technologies have made it possible for brewery De Graal to keep up with the increasing demand for high quality beers. The export market to countries such as the US, Japan, Italy and Denmark is particularly on the rise. In addition to the main activity, the brewing of six different beers under its own De Graal brand name, the brewery is also specialized in producing custom-made specialty beers.

Clear blond to yellow beer, small aery irregular white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: pretty fruity, pears, apples, bit malty, some unripe peaches, hint of canned pineapple. MF: lively carbon, medium to full body. TAste: malty start, sweet, metallic, unpleasant bitterness, bit floral, apple sauce. Aftertaste: bit medicinal, unripe sour apples, apple skin, unpleasant bitterness, don’t like it…

10 August 2019. At Belgian Beer Geek Tasting. Cheers to the crew, thanks for hosting, Tim! Clear pale golden, quickly thinning, frothy, off-white head. Aroma of wet grass, urinal, soggy apple & banana, cooked cauliflower (DMS), wet coriander seed. Taste is medium malty sweet, notes of wet grain, old apple, yeast & grain; some spicy soggy coriander, grass & wheat. Dryish, grassy-grainy finish, dirty spices. Medium body, slick texture, lively carbonation. Dirty stuff.

Bottle bought at the Bierboom a while ago. Amber colour with creamy golden head. Aroma booze, bit sweet, touch of fruit there but not too strong aroma. Taste is sweet and boozy, caramel, boozy fruit, nice enough, but nothing that special. --- Beer merged from original tick of Pius X on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:06 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. Red brown color with bits of yeast floating. Chocolate and mocha aroma and flavor, somewhat dusty. Rather thin. Sweet and sugary, some mango fruit. Maybe a bit infected, but the flavor is not too bad.

Golden color, clear. Strong ginger aroma. Malty ginger flavor. Medium bodied. Sweet with not even a hint of alcohol. I don't like ginger (=gember), but it fits with this beer and it is not annoying. Clean palate. Still not a beer I would buy more often.

Just a bit dark blonde with chunks of yeast floating. Very dusty and yeasty aroma and flavor. Sweet and sugary. Dusty mouthfeel. The beers seems infected.
