Description
Each summer Patrizio was driving to Italy to visit his family with his trunk packed with Belgian beers.
During long evenings people were gathering on the terrace to taste the famous "birra belga". As a pastime Patrizio made small turtles with the hood wires of the bottles and gave them to the children.
Every evening, the kids were asking him: "please make me a turtle (tartaruga in Italian)".
Remembering these joyful moments, the name Tartaruga came as a natural choice when brewing its first beer in 2013.
Since then Patrizio has been brewing its beers in collaboration with NovaBirra.
In January 2015, Tartaruga Fine Brewing was born!
And for the sake of keeping a higher level of quality Patrizio has chosen the De Ranke brewery in Dottignies to go and brew himself all its beers.

33cl bottle, BB 27/5/2023.

bottle.aged. best before 2020-09-07 slighlty unclear yellow to orange, offwhite head. brett and belgain yeast in the aroma. much like a belgian ipa old style with not that much hops. or a belgian blonde. flavor is belgian yeasty, malty, i can taste the age slightly as old hops, but the beer as such appears very belgian and quite fresh'ish. belgian style beers need to not be too agressively hopped to allow the yeast flavors to make their thing, and this one seems to be balanced. hops are both flowery and to the more us kind of hoppy bitter side.

Dark blond colour with light haze and thin head. Aroma and flavour have a strong amount of floral hop notes. Elements of zesty citrus come through too. Nice body. It is reminiscent of classic American IPA. The alcohol is well hidden.

Decent saison, a bit rye muddled. Not as crisp and dank as I’d like, a little too much bitterness. Online beergium

Hazy, lacking smooth malt body. It’s crisp due to the hop sharpness. But it’s muddled. Not super drinkable, and the bitterness is a bit astringent. Online beergium
