Tap at the brewery. Poured a milky straw colour with a thin white head. The aroma is yeast, fresh stone fruits, spicy hop. The flavour is light to moderate sour with a crisp lime citrus, salt, smooth warm chilli spice palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation. The chilli clearly dominates in the finish but it’s a warm smooth gentle burn. You know it’s there but it won’t destroy your palate.

Rare Breed Lime Crisis from Mountain Goat Beer

Tap at the brewery. Poured a crystal clear golden colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is malt, big lime citrus hop. The flavour is moderate to strong bitter with a dry crisp fresh super citrus fruit, woody alcohol hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Tap at the Richmond brewery. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin off white head. The aroma is toffee caramel roasty malt, yeast and red berry fruits. The flavour is light sour light sweet with a dry malt, light tart fruity, dry hop palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.

Barrel Breed Christmas Ale 2017 from Mountain Goat Beer

Tap at the Richmond brewery. Poured a hazy orange amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is light toffee caramel malt, sweet sticky tropical fruits and boozy alcohol. The flavour is moderate sweet with a rich malt, sweet fruit, dry oaky, heart warming alcohol bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation. Superb and considering the ABV it’s dangerously drinkable!

Tap at the Richmond brewery. Poured a slightly hazy straw colour with a thin white head and a few bubbles. The aroma is dry malt, Belgian yeast, peach, stone fruits, dry mineral, light bubblegum, alcohol. The flavour is moderate to strong bitter with a big crisp, malt, yeasty dry bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Tap at the Richmond brewery. Poured a slightly hazy golden colour with a thin white head. The aroma is light toffee caramel malt, light woody hop. The flavour is moderate to light bitter with a light, watery malt, dry woody hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation. Fine for a session beer but needs a little more flavour.

Tap at the Richmond brewery. Poured a crystal clear golden amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is malt, grassy citrus, pine, barnyard. The flavour is moderate bitter with a dry crisp piney, citrus fruit, woody hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

On tap at Catfish, Fitzroy. Big boozy nose with spices and bourbon proudly on display. Pours an almost orange amber with some head that dissipates quickly. This is a tricky prospect. Easy to sup, packed full of christmas flavours (toffee, vanilla, cinnamon), but none of the dried fruits you'd expect. The BAing has certainly delivered the sweet bourbon notes. The hops are understated. I found this way too easy to drink, and after three of them, I've woken up with a slight headache.

375ml can sampled during Aussie trip 2017-18. Pours copper amber with a white head. Aroma of bread & toffee malts, fruity hops. Taste is moderate malty, caramel, toffee, light spices. Medium bodied, carb was fine. Dryish lingering bitter finish. Solid amber ale

330ml bottle. Pours clear golden straw colour with a white head. Aroma is floral, grassy with clean malts. Taste is light sweet, moderate malty with more floral & grassy notes. Light to medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Dryish, gently bitter finish. One of the better Aussie pales I’ve tried, plenty of flavour
