Description
The Abita Brewing Company is nestled in the piney woods 30 miles north of New Orleans. In its first year, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer. We had no idea what we started. Customers loved our beer! By 1994, we outgrew the original site (now our 100-seat brew pub) and moved up the road to a larger facility to keep up with demand.

We brew more than 125,000 barrels of beer and 13,500 barrels of soda of in our state-of-the-art brewing facility. Our lagers and ales are brewed in small batches, hand-crafted by a team of dedicated workers with only the highest ideals of quality. This pride, along with our brewing process, is what creates our great brews.

We are privately owned and operated by local shareholders, many who have been with us since day one.

Bottle. Weak wheat taste and the fruit comes through as just a sourness. Not real fruity. Drinkable, but I don’t think this is as good as it used to be.

12oz bottle-pours a foamy off white head and amber color. Aroma is medium mat-sweet caramel, nutty. Taste is light/medium malt-caramel, nutty, secondary/faint hops, some praline. A bit light body mid taste. OK carbonation. Thanks jwc215 for sharing.

The bouquet is roasted barley malt and steak well done, nicely combined. Hazy orange color, thin head, no lacing. Dry taste of lightly roasted malts. Somewhat biting mouthfeel that yields to a smooth unmistakable pecan finish. There are also fairly nice yet subdued hops in the background. The taste is only fair, but it is otherwise well done and unique. I wouldn’t drink it all the time, so it makes for a nice seasonal.

Bottle. Sour milk aroma. Medium amber color with large head. Slightly sweet apple and pecan malt flavor. Light body like most Abita beers. Nice flavors - nothing bad - just nothing spectacular and on light side.

Bottled (thanks Degarth!). Deep amber colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is caramel malts, some earth and hops. Flavour is very much the same along with grass and metal. Not very pleasant.

Dark brown color, decent creamy expresso head. Toasted, chocolaty nose, slightly sourish. Light palate, some roasty malty notes and milk chocolate. Toasted aftertaste. More sweet than bitter. Simple.

Wow, this is not so good. Prominent sulfur aroma, moderately clean flavor, somewhat soft palate with touch of spicy hops. Overall thin with some sulfur in the finish.

Rather plain, but flawless brown ale. Aroma has light roasted malt, and flavor is simple, mild, roasted grain.

Bottle. The rating is a lot lower than I expected. This beer was pretty solid in my opinion. Dark pour with a decent sized head to it. Aroma is pretty hoppy. Flavor is malty and has a nice balance with citrus hops. The finish is smooth and I’d have to say this is quite drinkable.

Clear amber body with a small white head that quickly diminishes. Sweet nutty aroma with a firm malty background. Somewhat thin bodied with a light malty flavor and a nutty finish that lingers.
