Description
The Abita Brewing Company is nestled in the piney woods 30 miles north of New Orleans. In its first year, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer. We had no idea what we started. Customers loved our beer! By 1994, we outgrew the original site (now our 100-seat brew pub) and moved up the road to a larger facility to keep up with demand.
We brew more than 125,000 barrels of beer and 13,500 barrels of soda of in our state-of-the-art brewing facility. Our lagers and ales are brewed in small batches, hand-crafted by a team of dedicated workers with only the highest ideals of quality. This pride, along with our brewing process, is what creates our great brews.
We are privately owned and operated by local shareholders, many who have been with us since day one.

Second rating? Wow. Bottle. Okay beverage, with a touch of pecan. This is not that noticeable in terms of flavor though, as I was expecting more of a strong flavor to it. Oh well, not bad, but definitely not worth a second try.

Bottle. Pours out a golden color witha one finger (but quickly disappearing) white head. Aromas are of strawberries, albiet kind of a fake strawberry, and the grain from the malt comes through as a shortcake scent. Flavor then comes across as fairly artificial, almost like a Fruit Roll Up or strawberry flavored Special K. It’s not really disgusting or anything, but I’m not sure to what extent I would call this beer. Maybe \"Alcoholic Fruit Roll Up\" beverage or something like that. Still, it is the first beer I’ve tried with strawberries...

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark amber color with a large orange-white head. The aroma was sweet fruity hops. The flavor was sweetish with a moderate yet somehow subdued fruity hop presence. The body was fairly light. A nice session ale but nothing more.

Bottle. Strawberry malt aroma (smells like Strawberry Quik(tm) - my childhood favorite). Golden yellow with small head. Strawberry malt flavor. Pretty weak. If you want a fruity, light beer, really would be a good choice. Will probably be a big hit with anyone who likes their Purple Haze.

Bottle. Pours an amber color with a medium frothy white head. The aroma is very malty. Not much going on with the taste with this one, but easy to drink. still prefer turbodog from abita.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a medium golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma was sour, vaguely skunky and reminded me of rotting berry. The flavor was vile artificial berry and bad pale lager. The sugary artificial berry flavor lingered.

Pronounced aroma of butter, with a little cream and hay in the background. Slightly cloudy yellow pour with a medium creamy head. Some glass coating and nice rising streams of carbonation. Very sour strawberry taste at first which mellows by the end of the glass to a more sweeter non-strawberry taste. Virtually no finish. It’s a nice drink, but not very beery.

Bottle: Massive white head atop of one of the worst colored ales I’ve ever seen. Looked like fruit juice, maybe peach? Nose is malty and soapy, hints of fruit. Bubbly on the tongue with wheat, malt, sours, and the subtle fruit flavor of a watery wine cooler. Couldn’t stand to finish this one.
