Description
The Abita Brewing Company is nestled in the piney woods 30 miles north of New Orleans. In its first year, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer. We had no idea what we started. Customers loved our beer! By 1994, we outgrew the original site (now our 100-seat brew pub) and moved up the road to a larger facility to keep up with demand.
We brew more than 125,000 barrels of beer and 13,500 barrels of soda of in our state-of-the-art brewing facility. Our lagers and ales are brewed in small batches, hand-crafted by a team of dedicated workers with only the highest ideals of quality. This pride, along with our brewing process, is what creates our great brews.
We are privately owned and operated by local shareholders, many who have been with us since day one.

originally 2.3 rerated 3/2022. Its a little better, smells better-----old rating - Before I start, the only other beer from Abita that I have sampled was purple haze, so I don’t have any expectations for this. …. 12 oz twist off cap. Slight yeasty aroma. Pours very dark brown in my steeler stein, but not opaque. Tan head that dissipates quickly. Initial taste bud hit is roasty and slightly alcoholic. Could not detect much chocolate. Finish is not offensively lingering but does have a slight bitter aftertaste that hangs on for a few minutes. The only other brown ale I sampled is Bell’s Best Brown ale. Not quite as good as that.

Bottle. Brown pour with a nice tan head. Great looking beer. Flavor is malty, bunch of hops throughout. I liked this beer, although as it warmed the alcohol really seemed to peek through.

"fresh from the tap...smells like fresh crushed raspberies peach colored mingled with apricot and ruby red tendencies...the raspberries then engulf themselves in a blanket of subtle cream"-Funknmilla..."assocation with life savors rasp. & creme candy"...as thought by M.V.

Bottle. Nice chestnut, low creamy head. Very nice roasted and earthy, orangepeel aroma. Nutty malt, a bit berries, bitter edge, mellow sparkly body. Milk chocolate aftertaste. Light to medium body.

$2.75 at main street bar and grill in aliquippa. Never thought I try this but, I asked for something different and she served this up. I was expecting a sweet beer, wheat and raspberry and all. Was a little disappointed in the flavor. Just your typical american beer with a little non sweetened raspberry flavor added. Not impressed. Not my cup of tea.

12oz bottle Pours out a hazy amber with very little head. Alot of carbonization almost like a soda. Not that very much ras in this berry beer.

Perfectly clear light golden color, with moderate head - spicy, floral hop aroma, with mild pilsner malt coming through in the background - lightly buttery, but beyond that not much of a malt profile - mostly some herbal/grassy notes and a mellow hop presence - finishes with light, bready malt, but otherwise ends kind of thin - a so-so pilsner.

Pleasing lemony hop aroma, lightly soapy, weak bready malts. Off gold with minimal head and carbonation. A spike of hop flavors up front doesn’t do much, quickly rounding into a vague, blandish sweetness. Finish begins as a tingle of carbonation, a light dab of hops and then nothing at all. Overally pretty flavorless.

Nose of fruity caramelly malt; light amber color with a medium yellow-tinged head that didn’t hang around too long; flavor show some malt but also buttery diacetyl, which I don’t really care for.
