Description
The Abita Brewing Company is nestled in the piney woods 30 miles north of New Orleans. In its first year, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer. We had no idea what we started. Customers loved our beer! By 1994, we outgrew the original site (now our 100-seat brew pub) and moved up the road to a larger facility to keep up with demand.

We brew more than 125,000 barrels of beer and 13,500 barrels of soda of in our state-of-the-art brewing facility. Our lagers and ales are brewed in small batches, hand-crafted by a team of dedicated workers with only the highest ideals of quality. This pride, along with our brewing process, is what creates our great brews.

We are privately owned and operated by local shareholders, many who have been with us since day one.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Clear, pale pilsener golden with a small, white head. Thin aroma of unmalted cereals. Light-bodied, sweetish and sticky with notes of cardboard. No bitterness. So not even Abita could manage to brew a drinkable Light-beer. 060406

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Clear amber with an off-white head. Lovely hoppy, floral aroma. Medium body with some caramel malt but otherwise dominated by floral accents. Dry, hoppy finish. A straightforward and nice brew that really comes closer to an APA than to a Golden Ale. 270306

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Now simply known as "Abita Red Ale". Pours a beautiful, clear amber with a creamy, off-white head. Malty, caramelish aroma. Medium body with lots of caramel and some fresh, nutty accents. The good quality aroma hops leave some fruit but only a discreet bitterness. Lovely. 310306

Bottle: Poured a deep brown color ale with a huge off-white foamy head with better then average retention. Aroma of chocolate malt is quite distinctive and very pleasant. Taste is also dominated by roasted malt with some chocolate note and a slightly bitter finish. Overall, this is probably better then 90% of brown ale out there but it is still a brown ale which just doesn’t get me excited.

bottle - Pours cloudy yellow with a hint of pink. Thin head. Smells lightly of raspberries. The taste is like a bad pale lager with some raspberry flavor. It’s also way too thin. The finish is light and uninteresting, much like the rest of the beer.

bottle - Pours dark brown with a light head. Aroma is mainly of sweet caramel malt and is pretty light. The flavor is quite malty and smooth with a too thin body. Previous brown ales advertised as "dry hopped" that I’d had were, well, hoppier. The hops are very subdued in this brew and that was disappointing. It’s okay and easy to drink, just nothing really impressive.

I am not a big Abita fan. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a copper color with a large tan head. The aroma is sweet and lightly fruity with a slightly macro sour undertone. The flavor is sour macro tang with a sweet underside that is moderately bready. The finish is a bit chewy.

Pour is a almost cloudy yellow with a white head. Aroma is almost next to nothing. Flavor is quite good! Yeast and hops both make an apperance here and quite strong at that. Flavor puts this one in my maybe catagory. Good flavor but weak otherwise. If i saw this on sale somewhere I would deffinatly buy a case.
