Description
The Abita Brewing Company is nestled in the piney woods 30 miles north of New Orleans. In its first year, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer. We had no idea what we started. Customers loved our beer! By 1994, we outgrew the original site (now our 100-seat brew pub) and moved up the road to a larger facility to keep up with demand.

We brew more than 125,000 barrels of beer and 13,500 barrels of soda of in our state-of-the-art brewing facility. Our lagers and ales are brewed in small batches, hand-crafted by a team of dedicated workers with only the highest ideals of quality. This pride, along with our brewing process, is what creates our great brews.

We are privately owned and operated by local shareholders, many who have been with us since day one.

Bottle. Did not like this beer. It tasted like one of those beers you get at the discount bin. Color yellow. Weak head. Won’t drink it again.

Bottle. Most IPAs have a grapefruit taste to them to me anyway so this seems like a natural combination. I don’t really like a lot of beers from Abita but this has to be one of their better ones. Actually pretty goo. Golden color, medium head, a little bit of lace. Aroma is, yes, grapefruit but not overpowering. Taste is a grapefruit IPA.

Bottle. I know Abita makes a lot of different beers but I can honestly say they are One of the most disappointing breweries out there. This one is just average all the way across the board.

Bottle. I’m proud of them boys from Louisiana. I keep trying Abita and I’m usually disappointed but this one is great. Nice deep, brown color with a creamy, fluffy, tan head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, with hints of roasted grains. Taste is coffee, chocolate, dried fruits with a nice smooth, bold finish. Good job.
