Description
Renaissance brewing was established in 2005 when experienced brewers Andy Deuchars and Brian Thiel purchased the lease on the historic Grove Mill in Blenheim. Andy and Brian, both natives of Southern California, had one goal in mind - to produce stunning beers in a region more renowned for the excellence of its wines. We are committed to using local ingredients and are one of the pioneers of craft brewing in New Zealand.

Bottle at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark mahogany with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is yeast, roasty malt and cherries in the background. The flavour is moderate sweet with a smooth, smoky malt, burnt toffee, light cherry palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Plenty going on here. Served cool, probably a little too cool but the flavours still came through. A superb porter I must say.

Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear light amber with a frothy white head and a little lace. The aroma is dry yeast, light hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with light hoppy, light pepper spice palate and a little citrus in the finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Not a bad Pilsner as far as Pilsners go.

Bottle from Braedon at home. Hazy amber orange pour. Aroma is predominantly malt, some spice, some slight resin hops. Taste is surprisingly malty but also with crisp clean hoppy bitterness. Hope are a bit floral but mostly just crisp. Not bad for an APA but not much going on.

Pours black with a quickly fading tan head.Nose shows a fair whack of roasted malt, some sweeter-smelling bready notes, and soft earthy cocoa.Heavy roast as a flavours contributing some liquorice. The bready element remains, but without contributing much sweetness. Finishes with a please dry roastiness.
