Description
Renaissance brewing was established in 2005 when experienced brewers Andy Deuchars and Brian Thiel purchased the lease on the historic Grove Mill in Blenheim. Andy and Brian, both natives of Southern California, had one goal in mind - to produce stunning beers in a region more renowned for the excellence of its wines. We are committed to using local ingredients and are one of the pioneers of craft brewing in New Zealand.

Almost clear gold beer, good bubbly pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry and has a fine minerally crispness. Light malts, trace of dry creamy sweetness. Hops bring mellow skunk and smooth cooling pine. Trace of lime peel. Dry and mildly bitter finish. Pretty drinkable.

Associated/Cityfresh in Bushwick Brooklyn for $7: Pours black with a beige head. Aroma is pine, herbs, rye, sugar, and some fruitiness. Taste is moderately bitter. Aftertaste is a little sharp, but not too oppressive. Tangy. Full of resin. Medium bodied. It is not a bad black IPA, but it is not really my thing.
