ChrisO’s Pre GBBF ’Are You Scottish?’ tasting. Light haze on this amber beer. Good pale cream coloured head. Light airy palate. Light malt cream. Light Sorachi Ace tasting lemon cream. Touch of herb. Finish is smooth and semi dry and increases the tang, Nice beer! Would have sworn Sorachi Ace!

Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2013, acquired from the duty free shop at SEATAC, 10/08/13. Golden amber with a good sized off white/light beige head. Nose is light hops, orange, hint of plastic, citrus fruit. Taste comprises bitter orange, light caramel notes, grass, hops. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dry finish with light hop bitterness. Not what I really expect from a west coast IPA, more akin to an overgrown Golden Blonde, ok drinkable affair but nothing I’d return to!

Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2013. It pours lightly hazy amber with a small white head. The nose is varnish, pine, earth, toast and crystal malt. The taste is wood, earth, varnish, decent bitterness, brown bread, spice and light orange with a very dry, somewhat bitter finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Fine.

650 ml bottle. Pours amber with medium head that settles quickly. Aromas of malts, toffee, and and little melon and citrus. Malty flavor, with a bit of lemon and final bitter finish. Good,, but pretty common stuff now.

Draught at Portland Craft, Vancouver
Hazy light amber color, with creamy head. It’s another sweet imitation of Belgian, without the true yeast character, but with a good level of sweetness, round mouthfeel, sweet malt flavor, lingering fruitiness, low bitterness; it ends with a very light feeling of creamy Italian cheese (stracchino).
