Cask at Greyhound, Stafford. Pours a pale straw with a small foamy almost white head and good lacing. There’s grains and continental hops in the aroma plus some hints of biscuits. In the mouth it is sweet and tangy with a slightly sharp edge to it. Continental hops are prevalent again alongside summer fruits. Later on traces of lime and pine come through as well. Finish is dry and slightly bitter. This is rather nice. Interesting and certainly better than expected.

[50cl bottle from a deli in Ludlow market square.] A bright straw coloured pour with a fading white head; grainy aroma with a trace of citrus; grainy body with some orange and lemon; then some pithy citrus bitterness to finish.

[50cl bottle from a deli in Ludlow.] A straw coloured pour with no head and moderate carbonation, looking more like a cider than a beer; dusty citrus aroma; taste of orchard fruit with a little citrus sweetness ; then some peppery bitterness. An odd beer.

Keg, half-pint at the Brewery Shed on 12th August 2024, first beer of the Brother-in-Laws birthday train trip to Ludlow. Clean and clear golden body, full white bubbly head that fell away a bit too quickly. Standard UK Lager, slightly grainy and sweet, but refreshing and an ideal start to a hot days drinking.

[December 2023] Hazy and somehow watery yellow gold with a small bubbly white head. Tropical fruit on the nose with maybe a hint of pine, fizzy with a nice tropical fruit vibe and a bitter finish

Cask at Greyhound, Stafford. Pours almost black with a small foamy tan head. There’s a generally fruity aroma with some roasted malts. In the mouth it is slightly bitter, but with also a fruity sourness and a creamy texture. Roast malts come through eventually, as do hints of liquorice. Finish is somewhat sour. This was OK, but I suspect it needs to be rerated as it was past its best.

Cask at Cromwells, Shrewsbury. Pours golden yellow with a small almost white head and good lacing. There’s malts in the aroma – but not much else. In the mouth it fluctuates between being slightly sweet and slightly bitter. Malts are again the mainstay, but now joined by traditional hop and traces of marmalade, honey and berry fruits. Bitterness wins out in the finish. I don’t normally go a bomb on golden ales, but this is decent.
