Description
Troy Casey began Casey Brewing and Blending in the fall of 2013 with the idea of creating a blendery (a facility that doesn’t have a brewery themselves, but still makes beer) in the Roaring Fork Valley, a place where he and his fiancé had recently decided to make their home. After searching for the perfect location for their barrel cellar, they found their current spot in South Glenwood right on the Roaring Fork River. Troy first began brewing sour and wild beer in 2009 and it quickly took over all of his brewing interest. This all culminated with the creation of Casey Brewing and Blending, a place where Troy will be able to create blends his way.

Poured from a bottle. Aroma has medium light oak notes and phenolics. Medium light stone fruit and citrus. Pale malt notes. Bourbon is well hidden and nice in the aroma. Pours a clear, pale yellow straw color with a small white head that recedes slowly to the edges. Moderate lacing and small legs. Flavor is slightly tart with a bit of oak and tannins. Light bourbon notes at the end with more oak. Light stone fruit and phenolics. Slightly odd lingering phenolic, oak and bourbon. Moderate acidity. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with moderate carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice beer but odd at the same time. The acidity, light malt and esters work well, but also unique when combined with the bourbon notes.

Bottle from Nielsen - thanks! Pours clear to hazy straw, small white head that disappears quickly with little lacing. Aroma is whisky forward, notes of Brett, some funk, oak. Flavor is oak, whiskey, Brett, some lemon. Lightly tart and funky. Whiskey remains a prominent feature throughout the pour. Light body, low carbonation. Interesting; based on reviews the bottle experience was quite a bit different than draft...

Bottle thanks to adneilsen! Pours hazy golden, small white head, good lacing. I expected a lot from this baby cause it combines two things I love - Brett and Citra. Aroma tells me that it is not going to disappoint; lovely citrus, passionfruit, dankness, pot, lots of Brett, barnyard and damp basements. Flavor is very light sweet going quickly to dry, funky with some nice oak accents to the Brett and citrus dance going on in my mouth. Medium body, and a minerally mouthfeel; kind of reminiscent of Hill Farmstead. High quality beverage here.
