On 23rd May 2016 I visited the Rancho Santa Margarita home of Cismontane Brewing and had a very pleasant flight of six beers, this beer being one of them. Misty old gold with a wispy white head. Halfway between a flavourless lager and a flavourless ale. I might be being unfair because of the five heavy hitters it sat with on my flight, but it just seemed bland and boring to me. Scored objectively.

On 23rd May 2016 I visited the Rancho Santa Margarita home of Cismontane Brewing and had a very pleasant flight of six beers, this beer being one of them. Not too sure this worked for me: a barrel aged Oktoberfest beer? I thought it a little sour and strange to be honest, glad I only had a flight sized glass to drink. There was a definite Bourdon flavour and aroma to the beer but marrying it to what was most likely a very good Oktoberfest beer was lost on me.

On 23rd May 2016 I visited the Rancho Santa Margarita home of Cismontane Brewing and had a very pleasant flight of six beers, this new beer being one of them. Liquorice flavours dominate this well made Anniversary beer, it’s classic Porter look (black with a tanned blanket of foam) and slick body feel made this a lovely foil to the Saison they brewed for their 5th Anniversary, which sat next to this on my flight.

On 23rd May 2016 I visited the Rancho Santa Margarita home of Cismontane Brewing and had a very pleasant flight of six beers, this year old beer being one of them. Clear golden pour, with a decent white head. Yeast and citrus notes in the nose, these follow on into the taste along with a grainy flavour. Refreshing and almost tart in nature, a very drinkable Saison.

On 23rd May 2016 I visited the Rancho Santa Margarita home of Cismontane Brewing and had a very pleasant flight of six beers, this new beer being one of them. Golden pour with a white head. How do you like your hops? This has spades full with more too spare. True DIPA, bitter and dry.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden yellow with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of earthy wheat with Belgian yeast and a hint of sweet flight fruit. Flavor starts with earthy, slightly sweet wheat but finish has some Belgian yeast, light flora and light fruits.

Draft at the brewery tap in Rancho Santa Margarita on 23rd May 2016. The board said it was 40% Wine and 60% Beer, didn’t notice the grape variety or base beer. Anyway it poured a very pale, light golden colour and had no head worthy of note. It was ’winey’ in it’s aroma and taste, quite pleasant actually.

Pour is a cloudy copper with a small white head. Aroma is a decent bready malt with some notes of caramel. Flavor is a thin malt with a little vegetal which is not horrible just kind of odd. Finish is super dry with a clean almost non-existent remnant of anything left behind after the swallow. This was fine, nothing off about the beer it was just a little thin all around.

500ml bottle. Quasi black colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Chocolately, dark malty aroma, hints of coffee, a touch of vanilla, fruity hints of blue grapes. Taste is moderately sweet, chocolately dark malty, hints of coffee, fruity notes of dark berries, blue grapes, dry overtones of corresponding fruit parings. Relatively light, more sessionable than kind of a sipper.
