12 ounce bottle, a cool snowman on the label. Pours a dark copper color with a medium beige head. A sweet caramel and spiced candy nose. The flavor is very nice; sweet caramel, light apricot, some spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg, nothing too huge. Smooth and tasty.

Sample at the brewpub. Pours a clear orange color with a thin off-white head that recedes to an outer ring quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Fruity aroma with hints of oak and malt. Medium body with flavors of tropical fruits, caramel malt, wood and a bit of booze. The finish is oaky and fruity with a short malty aftertaste. Slightly above average overall, and the barrel aging has muted a lot of the characteristics of the base IPA.

This is the December selection in Elevator’s "PHD" program. The beer pours brown-black with a medium dense khaki head that recedes steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of bourbon-infused cocoa. Medium body with a moderately boozy character and notes of semi-sweet chocolate, malt and coffee. The finish is woody with a cocoa liqueur aftertaste. Above average overall.
