Fürstlich Fürstenbergische Brauerei
Commercial Brewery
in Donaueschingen,
Baden-Württemberg,
Germany 🇩🇪
Owned by
Paulaner Brauerei
Associated Venue: Fürstenberg Bräustüble
Established in 1283
On January 18, 1283, King Rudolf I von Habsburg granted the lands and rights for Baar and Tunôeschingen - now known as Donaueschingen - in fief to Count Heinrich I von Fürstenberg. This included the right to brew beer and to issue concessions for brewing and serving food and drink and to regulate, tax and levy duties on brewing and the serving of food and drink.
After Count Joseph Wilhelm Ernst zu Fürstenberg moved his seat of power to Donaueschingen, the demand for our beer started to grow. Construction of the new brewery began in 1739 and the brewery hasn’t moved since.
In 2005 the company joined Brau Holding International, one of the biggest brewery groups in Germany, in order to secure the future of the Fürstenberg brewery.

(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of yespr. Clear golden with a white head. Somewhat unclean malt aroma. Medium body with notes of malt and cardboard and a dry finish. Not overly pleasant. 050608

(Bottle 50 cl) Pilsener golden in the pale end of the scale with a decent head. Soft and smooth with a marked malty sweetness pretty much without any bitterness. Makes it at little bland and mainstreamish, but not a bad brew as such. 250502

Bottle: Golden, visible carbonation, quite quickly vanishing loose white head; moderate sweet grainy nose with traces of sweet pale malt and grassy hops; medium bodied, moderate sweet-bitter flavour; malty-nutty finish with waves of aromatic hops in the aftertaste. O.K........

Bottle Lightly sweet barley malt aroma. Pale golden yellow with moderate head. Slightly sweet stale barley malt flavor with light grassy hops finish. Very nice stylewise.

Bottle. Light banana malt aroma. Amber color with moderate head. Barley malt and dry hay hops flavor. Very hoppy style-wise but minimal barnyard flavors that I really like in this style - more like a German Pilsener.

Hopfiger Antrunk, frisch, angenehm. Bottled. A golden beer with a white head. The aroma is dominated by cardboard, while the flavor is slightly sweet to break-up the cardboard notes. But the bitterness is OK.

The bottle looks not too bad, the beer in the glas also. Tastes very vapid, the finish is sourish. Tastes not like a kristallweizen. Not a good beer!

The bottle looks good - the beer in the glass looks terrible. Nasty foam. Smells and tastes very dry and sourish - a torture to empty the glass.

(bottle, courtesy of Quack-Duck) Clear, pale golden colour with a fluffy foamy white head. Medium-sweet malty and subtle fruity nose with light hoppy notes in the background. Sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Solid malty base with herbal hoppy accents and light fruity (citrus, pine apples); dry, slightly sweet, moderately bitter and slight tart finish. Mediocre mild Pilsener by German standards (03.03.08).

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. But it tastes like dry water - really nasty. Not a good beer!
