Description
Fürstenberg has been setting the standard for brewing and beer culture since 1283. And the tradition lives on: With a wide range of different beer specialties, the brewery leaves nothing to be desired: from our hoppy Premium Pilsener to our full-bodied Premium Lager and the fully matured Fürstenberg Non-Alcoholic or our sparkling-fresh wheat beers, Fürstenberg embodies a unique diversity in beer culture.

On January 18, 1283, King Rudolf I von Habsburg granted the lands and rights for Baar and Tunôeschingen - now known as Donaueschingen - in fief to Count Heinrich I von Fürstenberg. This included the right to brew beer and to issue concessions for brewing and serving food and drink and to regulate, tax and levy duties on brewing and the serving of food and drink.

After Count Joseph Wilhelm Ernst zu Fürstenberg moved his seat of power to Donaueschingen, the demand for our beer started to grow. Construction of the new brewery began in 1739 and the brewery hasn’t moved since.

In 2005 the company joined Brau Holding International, one of the biggest brewery groups in Germany, in order to secure the future of the Fürstenberg brewery.

Bottled. Cloudy golden. Banana and bread aroma. Sweet and fairly soft. More bread than esters. Easy going weizen.

Bottled. Pale golden with minimal head. Aroma of metal and vegetables. Crisp and light bodied with some harsh grassy bitterness. Sadly this beer starts to lean more towards latin american lager than german pilsener nowadays.

Sweet malt, a bit metallic bitterhop, sulphury notes. Yellowish, soapy head. Apallingly thinbodied - hard to taste anything over the water - appareantly too much Danube in this one.

Golden colour. Aroma is light, accented towards grass with hints of bread. Flavour is sweet at first, drying slightly in the finish. Still, it’s not all that dry nor does it have much malt nor hop character. A shade of what north German pils ought to be.
