Fürstlich Fürstenbergische Brauerei
Commercial Brewery
in Donaueschingen,
Baden-Württemberg,
Germany 🇩🇪
Owned by
Paulaner Brauerei
Associated Venue: Fürstenberg Bräustüble
Established in 1283
On January 18, 1283, King Rudolf I von Habsburg granted the lands and rights for Baar and Tunôeschingen - now known as Donaueschingen - in fief to Count Heinrich I von Fürstenberg. This included the right to brew beer and to issue concessions for brewing and serving food and drink and to regulate, tax and levy duties on brewing and the serving of food and drink.
After Count Joseph Wilhelm Ernst zu Fürstenberg moved his seat of power to Donaueschingen, the demand for our beer started to grow. Construction of the new brewery began in 1739 and the brewery hasn’t moved since.
In 2005 the company joined Brau Holding International, one of the biggest brewery groups in Germany, in order to secure the future of the Fürstenberg brewery.

330ml bottle from the minibar at Rega Hotel in Stuttgart. Pale yellow. Oily aroma. White foam, mostly diminishing. Too much carbonated for my taste. Medium bodied. Dry finish with a slight bitter touch to it (20.04.2006)

Herb, hohl. Leicht bitter, anschließend im Abgang. Ansonsten noch wässrig, im Mittelteil hopfig. Schlechtes Massenpils. Test vom 11.2.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 11,5,9,6,8,6 - 6,90

(bottle, provided by bierkoning) Clear golden colour with a stable foamy white medium head. Grassy hoppy nose with a malty background. Dry malty taste, medium to light body, crispy mouthfeel, light bitter and grassy finish. Pretty unspectacular Pils.

Bottled. Pale golden with small white head. Malty aroma with a fruity-malty flavor. Light hoppy finish. A decent beer, but why someone bothers to import it to Norways poor beer-scene is a mystery to me. There are hundreds of more interesting beers than this one to choose from if you plan to import. (Bottle 50 cl) Orangey golden and - naturally - unclear. An impressive, rich head. Fresh all right but a bit thin, too little fruit, too little aroma. Simply lacks some character. 090203

(Bottle 50 cl) Hazy, dark golden with a nice, full head. Starts rather soft and lightly sweet with a surprisingly low carbonation. But then almost everything is overpowered by a long and lasting bitterness. A very unusual brew. 130103

(Bottle 50 cl) Neatly pilsener golden with a rather small head. Surprisingly full flavours and not unlike a genuine pilsener - especially the hops shine through. Low Alcohols can be made from several methods - this is one of the better. And apparently it’s a special patented method - all of which can be read on the back label. 130103
